"Congress wants AM radio in all new cars – trade groups say it's a mistake"

A group of trade groups representing automakers, tech companies, and environmental advocates have come together to oppose a bill that would mandate AM radio in all new cars.

The bill, the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act, was introduced by a group of lawmakers who are concerned that the increasing popularity of electric vehicles could lead to a decline in AM radio reception.

However, the trade groups argue that the bill is unnecessary and would add unnecessary cost to new cars.

They also argue that AM radio is becoming increasingly irrelevant as people switch to streaming music and other digital audio services.

The bill is currently being considered by the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
